We were lucky enough to work with Derek Black, graphic designer extraordinaire, who walked us through the steps to create a logo that reflects the people and the values of our network. You might remember this post from last November describing one of our first meetings with Derek where he helped us brainstorm what we wanted our logo to represent. It was a long process, but we are extremely happy with the end result!
這次，我們很榮幸能夠與一位非凡的平面設計師—Derek Black合作，他與我們一起設計了這個象徵了HKLC的人和價值的全新標誌。如果您對我們在去年十一月發佈的一篇文章有印象的話，我們曾提及過HKLC與Derek的第一次會面，他讓我們集思廣益，想想我們希望標誌能展示甚麼東西。雖然這個過程很漫長，但我們對於結果非常滿意。
The finished logo is a modern abstraction of a library catalogue card, but it also evokes a door, symbolizing being open to new possibilities and opportunities. The colour is inspired by Chinese chops, and it also happens to be a trending colour for 2017-2018. It therefore represents both the heritage and contemporary outlook of the city in which we live and work. Finally, the English and Chinese typeface have been carefully chosen to mimic the attention-grabbing headlines used in newspapers of both languages.
完成品是一個既富現代感、又抽象的圖書館目錄卡；它亦是一扇門。它象徵以開放的態度面對新的可能性和機會。而顏色採用方面，其靈感來自於中國的印章，而且這將會是2017-18潮流的顏色呢！可見，我們的新標誌同時展現了傳統和時代感，就像我們居住和工作的地方一樣。此外，不論英文或中文，我們都模仿了報紙上那引人注目的字體。
The whole process taught us that a tremendous amount of thought, effort, and skill needs to go into a well-designed logo. Our enormous thanks to Derek for sharing your time and expertise with us!
