Tuesday the 21st of June saw the first get together of Hong Kong Libraries Connect. We had twelve interested library folks attend the meeting, and we talked about the goals of HKLC, what attendees would like to see HKLC do, and how they would like to participate. It was a small but enthusiastic group, and it was great to sit and chat with a group of librarians with such a commitment to advancing the profession.
We talked a lot about the values of HKLC group, which include openness, inclusiveness, a willingness to experiment, and a commitment to supporting colleagues and LIS students alike across sectors. If you want to know more about us and our goals, please visit the About section of our site.
We would like to thank everyone who came along to help define the work of HKLC and contribute the group taking its first steps towards building a community of practice in Hong Kong. This is just the beginning, and we hope that in the coming months we will have lots of updates and news about how you can get involved in HKLC. We also have a few ideas for future events - so stay tuned! If you would like to join us next time, or would like to share your own ideas about the direction of HKLC, drop us a line at info@hklibconnect.org or follow us on Twitter: @HKLibConnect.
See you next time!
